The Return Home

Clint’s whole body ached.  He was pretty sure he’d broken a rib and at one point he’d dislocated his shoulder.  He’d pushed it back in, but usually, you were supposed to rest that kind of wound.  Instead, Clint had spent the rest of the afternoon having the shit kicked out of him while he used a compound bow with a two-hundred-and-fifty-pound pull strength, over and over again.

He was sore and exhausted and he just wanted to put some ice on his shoulder and ribs, have a shot of rum in his coffee so that he could pass out, and not have any dreams where he revisited that battlefield.

Chapter 13

The speed at which you and Clint were able to pull a wedding together, was nothing short of impressive.  Even with an extra fee to cover the paperwork, it took a week before you were legally allowed to marry him.  You could only have the chapel on a Tuesday morning.  But you still managed to get it all ready.  You had bought a white lace dress with thin straps with a skirt that just reached the floor.  It wasn’t necessarily intended to be a wedding dress, but it would pass for one.  Clint had got himself a mismatched linen suit with cream pants, a white shirt, and a lavender jacket.  The butler had organized flowers for you both, and there would even be someone playing the guitar for you to walk down the aisle to, as well as a photographer to capture the event.

Chapter 12

Chapter 11

The topic of money had never really come up between you and Clint before the trip to Jamaica.  Logically you knew he had money.  The guy worked as an Avenger which was funded by one of the richest people in the world, and before that, he’d worked as a secret agent.  While those positions weren’t billionaire levels of wealth, if you’d stopped to think about it, you’d assume there’d be pretty decent hazard pay for that kind of work, plus the need to compensate people elite in their field for their skills.  Even ignoring all of that, Clint owned an apartment building in Bed-Stuy.  You knew what you paid in rent and there were ten other apartments in the building that also paid Clint rent.  Not to mention that Clint owned the building outright, and even a building half the size of Clint’s went for four million dollars plus.  Clint never really cared if his tenants paid rent regularly – if they were good tenants, and they were having trouble financially, he just waved the rent until they got back on their feet again.  That implied that he didn’t need that incoming coming in to stay afloat.

Chapter 10

After your relationship with Clint had been outed to the public, there was a reset period while you both worked out what you could do to protect yourselves from the press, fans, and crazy stalkers.  First, Clint went and spoke to the team.  There was then a meeting you had with Captain America where he told you not to worry about what the public was saying, the team had both yours and Clint’s back in all of this.  It was a relief to hear.  As much as you wanted to live in a perfect world where people weren’t judged negatively for being or dating sex workers, it wasn’t the world that currently existed.  To know that everyone had Clint’s back was comforting.  It was nice to know his friends were so supportive of him.  You had good people in your life, and knowing the man you were in love with had that kind of support too made you feel happy in a way that you didn’t expect.

Chapter 9
