Chapter 7

Clint was excited.

Tired – yes.  He’d gone all day without any caffeine and he’d started to get withdrawal shakes.  But mostly – he was excited.

Having clarity about how he felt about you was like having a weight taken off his shoulders.  There was still the fear and apprehension of new love and a future that he always expected to fuck up.  There was still the extra added pressure of the fact you were a god and he was just a regular mortal guy.  Yet, even with all that, he was going out to dinner with you and he knew he was in love.  He wanted to do the hard stuff because he knew he loved you and you were worth every potential struggle that could pop up.

Chapter 5

Clint stood in the middle of The Elysian Fields coffee shop blinking between Stephen  Strange and Hati.  The huge wolf-like dog was stalking toward the Sorcerer with its hackles raised and seemingly growing larger with each step.  Strange had two glowing disks around his hands and he held them up like shields.

Clint was more confused than he had ever been.

“…why exactly are you housing a Warg?” Stange asked as Hati began to growl.

“Hati!” you shouted, stepping forward and pressing your palm on the giant dog’s head.  “What are you doing?  Stand down!”

Chapter 4

Clint wondered if it was possible to be addicted to another person.  Not just in a psychological way where you just felt better around a person than when you were apart, but in an actual physical addiction where the chemicals of the brain were altered and you’d go through withdrawals if you didn’t see them.  Where you experienced a real high when you were together, and when you were apart you started to feel like you couldn’t quite function properly anymore and all you could think of was when you could get back together again.

That’s how Clint was starting to feel about you.  Each time he saw you it was like a rush.  His energy spiked and he felt jittery in an excitable way.  Where he could talk a mile a minute and there was nothing he could do wrong.  When you were apart, his thoughts were overwhelmed by thoughts of when he could see you again and if he went too long, he started to feel a little sluggish and hard to get started.

Clint was excited about his date.  It hadn’t taken him long to decide to call you – he was never really one to play the kind of games most people did when dating.  If he liked someone, he let them know.  Sure sometimes he misread how serious someone was about him and ended up either going too hard or not hard enough about where the relationship was and he either ended up hurting them or chasing them off.  That was different. It was accidental and not born out of a need to control things.

Chapter 1

Clint often wondered how people without caffeine addictions managed to make it through the day.  He was sure those people existed.  There were morning people who got up and went for a run on just a smoothie and good vibes.  That wasn’t Clint.  Today Clint had woken up to a broken coffee machine and had seriously considered just pouring coffee grounds straight into his mouth just to get him out the door.  He felt like he was dragging himself along the street, and he was sure he should have passed at least three Starbucks and two bodegas that he could have gotten a coffee from in the time he’d been walking and yet, his sleep-addled mind either was misjudging the distance or was remembering things wrong because nothing was jumping out at him.
