Synopsis: Clint Barton has a coffee addiction. One day that addiction brings him to The Elysian Fields coffee shop where he meets you. Soon Clint feels like his addiction isn’t just caffeine-based. But things are not as they seem. With a store that only appears under certain conditions, no customers, and a dog the size of a Dire Wolf, Clint isn’t sure there’s not more going on with you and he isn’t sure how to figure out if his feelings are real or just a side effect of his addiction.
Clint took a couple of weeks coming to terms with all the new information that had been dropped on him. It wasn’t that he had an issue with your being a god. He was used to gods. He could handle gods. The lying though – that was rough.
He understood being secretive. He was a spy, after all, and even if he wasn’t, he liked to keep his cards close. He worried about his loved ones getting hurt, not to mention that his past was dark and he didn’t like opening up about it. But when he liked someone – when he really liked them – he was always himself. Sometimes he was so much himself that it scared them away. Yet this felt like you weren’t being yourself with him. It felt like this thing you had kept from him was keeping a part of who you fundamentally were from him. It affected the life that the two of you could have. It even affected when and where he might be able to see you. There were big life events that could be taken from him simply because you were a god. Marriage, kids – even simply growing old together. He should have been given a chance to decide before things like feelings got involved.Continue reading “Small Gods: First Cup – 6”
