Chapter 4

You were a little nervous.  It was ridiculous really.  You knew Clint Barton.  You had keys to his apartment.  You saw him every day – often in his boxers and you in nothing but a robe.  It was Clint.  Your Clint.  Your friend and neighbor and local coffee thief.

Tonight you were going on your first date with him and you were freaking out.  You had already tried on five different outfits and you were about to move on to your sixth.  You wanted tonight to be perfect.  You wanted to look perfect.  You wanted to be the perfect start to the perfect relationship with your perfect partner.

Chapter 3

There was nothing scarier than falling for someone.  There was a lack of control and a fear of the unknown that followed you everywhere.  The potential to get hurt was enormous and there seemed to be no way to fully protect yourself from it.  Yet, it was exciting too.  It came with a rush of adrenaline and endorphins and the small glimmer of hope that maybe something good was going to happen.

It was called falling for a reason.

Chapter 2

Living next to an Avenger was an interesting experience.  You liked it because in a lot of ways it felt safe.  Your job tended to attract people who couldn’t quite tell fantasy from reality.  It meant that in the past a client or two had overstepped and you’d had a few stalkers.  So far living next to Clint seemed to be enough to keep anyone with bad intentions away.  Even if that was just a coincidence, you felt safer with him there.  You knew if you asked him for help he’d give it.  You didn’t trust the police to do the same.

Synopsis:   You had chosen your apartment for a lot of reasons.  It was quiet.  It had good light.  It was secure.  Your landlord was an Avenger.  It was a good space to live and work and feel safe. A/N: Reader is a camgirl.  This fic is not a rescue the sex worker or fetishize the sex worker fic.  (I played a game where the love interest was a cam girl and I loved her so much that I wanted to write a fic where the main character was one too).

Chapter 1

Sex work was never something you dreamed of going into as a child.  While your friends spoke of wanting to be vets and astronauts and teachers you didn’t have ‘simulate sex while people watched and made requests’ on the list.  Yet, it was where you ended up,  and if you were really honest, you kind of loved it.

Being a cam girl had a lot of benefits.  You got to work from home.  You made good money.  You could do it while you were on vacation and not have it take up too much of your time.  Your fans constantly complimented you and built you up.  Plus, you really liked sex and if you could give yourself an orgasm and get paid for it – that was a double win.

Character Pairing:  Tony Stark x F!Reader, Tony Stark x Pepper Potts (No cheating – relationships happen at different times)

Rating: E

Word Count:   2267

Warnings: hospitals and canon violence

Synopsis: Tony Stark’s life is going off the rails.  He feels alone, misunderstood, and running on empty.  No fuel, no battery life, no signal.  If he could just find one last bar he might be okay.  He pulls into the parking lot of Fin, a dive-bar with no discernible location.  It could be the last bar he goes into.

Chapter 6

Tony did his very best to try not to need you.  He stopped wallowing in self-pity about what happened with the team.  Yes, it sucked.  Yes, he wished it had gone differently.  He couldn’t change the past though.  He could only make the best of what he had now.  He made things right with Pepper and began working more as the director of the Avengers and not as much as an active field combatant.  Not that Iron Man wouldn’t be there, it was just that he tended to pilot the suits remotely now.  He developed a new suit that worked on nanotech so he could keep it on him at all times so that he’d never be stuck or lost again.  He was doing more charity work and spending more time with the people he loved most, and very gradually he started to realize he wanted to settle down and start a family.  There was more out there for him than just Avenging.

Chapter 5

Tony became a little obsessed with how to find you when he got home.  It might have been a distraction from the fact he was alone, shouldering the burden of the now disassembled Avengers alone, apart from Rhodey who was now paralyzed, and Vision whose heart was somewhere else.  That should have meant he was too busy and he’d have no time for anything except cleaning up this mess.

He was busy.  Almost constantly busy.  Yet every tiny moment that his mind was able to wander he would start spiraling, blaming himself, blaming everyone else, wishing that he could get blitzed so he wouldn’t keep thinking about everything that went wrong.

Chapter 4

Tony had made it home in time to change the palladium core, which crumbled in his hand as soon as he took it out of the reactor’s casing.  He had to blow the dust out of the connectors to even get the new one to work.  His phone was dead when he went to check if he had any messages, and when he’d gone down to drive his car the next time, it wouldn’t even start due to its fuel tank being drained dry.

It was such a strange phenomenon that Tony didn’t forget it.  Not this time.  The memory of you telling him he’d make it home if he went straight there and then everything immediately failing when he was safe would pop into his head at odd moments.  He wanted to investigate this weird phenomenon of a woman with a bar he only found by accident twice that seemed to know exactly how long a battery would last despite not knowing how far he had to go before he could recharge it.

Chapter 3

Tony woke with a headache and his mouth feeling tacky, but he was warm, and the room was still dark, so he didn’t feel the need to move.

Besides, his face was buried in someone’s neck and their arms were around him, and for the first time in years, he felt safe and comfortable.  He wasn’t even sure where that feeling came from considering he wasn’t sure where he was or who he was with yet.  He’d been drinking to forget last night, and he’d well and truly forgotten everything.  All the way back to the fact he was dying.  All that he was aware of was how aside from the slight hangover, he felt really good, right down to his morning wood.

Chapter 2

It was years before Tony saw that bar again.  So long that the memory of the place faded and became just another improbable thing in his alcohol-fueled daze, mixed in with other events like the time he drove his car into someone’s pool, and the night he went to a party at the playboy mansion and came to a week later in bed with two strange women in a hotel in Vegas with no memory of the entire week.  He got drunk so often and so completely back then, that it was just one fucked up hazy event after another, and a bar where the owner treated him with kindness was strange, but not strange enough to sear its way into his memory.

Then Tony experienced something both traumatic and life-changing.  Obidiah Stane, the man he’d considered a father figure, paid a group of terrorists to murder him.

Chapter 31

The sound of joyful screams and laughter blended with the carnival music, wafting around the beachside amusement park along with the smells of fried foods and cotton candy.  It was the day of the festival that was being held for all the families of children who had been left behind before the blip.  It was an event that you had worked hard to organize in the hopes that the newly blended families could see they weren’t alone.  You wanted them to see that the world was different now and that different could be good.  You wanted to celebrate these new families and how they had adapted to the world.
